У программного обеспечения системы электронных новостей есть две составляющих - nntp server (сервер) и newsgroup client (клиент). Сервер новостей -- это программа, контролирующая телеконференции и занимающаяся доставкой электронных статей на другие компьютеры (при наличии сети). Просматривать новости можно, обращаясь к одному из таких серверов при помощи специальной программы, называемой также newsgroup reader (usenet client) для просмотра новостей. Через usenet client можно также помещать свои сообщения. Эта программа в чем-то похожа на почтовую программу. Newsgroup Commander Pro дает возможность искать, читать, отвечать, посылать новые сообщения с помощью очень удобного и простого интерфейса. Выгода NNTP в скорости работы - скачал все новости и сиди читай их в оффлайне, в форуме же надо заходить в каждую ветку и смотреть где новые сообщения - если у вас много пользователей, это займет достаточное время.
