A!K Research Labs announced version 2.75 of its chm2web webhelp creation utility, which enables users to create live, interactive Web-based help systems. The software creates help systems from existing compiled HTML help (.chm) projects of any level of complexity. Chm2web may be used by professional software developers seeking to provide help services for their online customers, as well as webmasters wishing to maintain digests and online knowledge bases. The software offers a step-by-step wizard interface to enable creation of customizable, template-based help systems that match current web design and utilize client-side scripting technologies. The application runs on Windows Me/NT4/2000/XP/Vista, and may be purchased with business or home-use licenses. "Compiled HTML help format has already become a de facto industry standard for creating offline help systems bundled with software," said Alexander Kramarenko, CEO of A!K Research Labs. "Our idea was to give existing .chm files a new life on the web. A .chm file can be created with any HTML help editor and then be converted to a full-blown online help system using chm2web with just one click! Just imagine how many more customers you can get if they can access the online help system prior to downloading your software. Besides that, the help file consists mostly of software relevant keywords, so putting an online help system on your Web site can actually boost its search engine visibility!" According to Kramarenko, "A!K Research Labs did its very best to present the most convenient and flexible tool for creating customized help systems for the Web using a really straightforward interface."
